Recommended for clarification and sterilization of aqueous solution, microbiological analysis and particle counts. |
- Made of cellulose nitrate.
- Hydrophilic.
- Very high flow rate.
- High non-specific adsorption.
- Resistant to aqueous solutions (pH 4-8), hydrocarbons and some dilute solvents.
- Very uniform pore structure which ensures homogeneous distribution of the particles retained on the filter surface.
- No enhancement or inhibition by the grid lines, due to chemical extractable or by the sterilization process.
- Pore size from 0.20 µm to 8.00 µm.
- Filter diameters from 13 mm to 293 mm.
- White, black or green, gridded or plain, hydrophobic border, sterile.
Formats:
White membranes used in general laboratory applications
Gridded membranes for counts of colonies as a standard method of quantification
· Grid, clearly defined (3.1 x 3.1 mm grid) and coloured (green and black), white in black membranes.
· Special ink, non-toxic and totally free from bacterial growth inhibitors
Coloured membranes for counts of fungi and yeasts (the higher contrast allows easier counting)
· Special ink, non-toxic and totally free from bacterial growth inhibitors
Sterilised membranes (packaged in individual blister) ensure the filter is not contaminated. Available in different formats
Sterile gridded membranes with hydrophobic border (3 and 6 mm) for analysis with samples that contain antibiotics, drugs, etc.

- Adsorption :160 µg/cm² for γ-globulin and pore 0.2 µm (decreases with increasing pore size)
- Extractables with water less than 1%
- Sterilization : by autoclaving at 121ºC or 134ºC, y-radiation (25kGy) or with ethylene oxide
- Maximum temperature 130ºC
APPLICATIONS
- Prefiltration, clarification, sterilisation.
- Particle counts and particles analysis.
- Membranes with larger pore sizes (8.00 µm, 5.00 µm and 3.00 µm) are used for Chemotaxis and retention large cells.
- The membranes with a pore size of 0.45 µm are used for micro-organism counts (microbiological analysis).
- Microbiological analysis of water, drug products, drinks, etc.
- Particle size analysis.
- Analysis of pharmaceuticals.
- Immunological analysis, which requires a very low level of extractable substance in water.
- Analysis of cell solutions.
- Diagnostic (due to the high level of non-specific adsorption).
